As the world keeps advancing, so does the trucking industry alongside it. ELDs short for Electronic Logging Devices are a new piece of technology that is attached to truck engines to record driving hours and perform other various tasks. In both the United States of America and Canada there have been new regulations limiting the number of hours a truck driver can be on the road for consecutively.

In Canada drivers are limited to 13-hours of consecutive driving in a 16-hour shift and they must have a mandatory 8 hours of rest/off-time. In the United States of America, a driver can only drive 60 hours in a week, and they must have a mandatory consecutive 34-hour off duty status. The ELD is a device that helps drivers keep a check on themselves and helps alert others if they are not complying within regulations.  It helps a driver by regulating his sleeping schedule which increases safety for the driver, the merchandise, and the public. ELDs also help drivers by logging work hours as well as logging mileage; since some drivers are paid by the hour and some are paid by the mile this device is a technological innovation to help both the driver and the employer keep track.

Improve the experience of your drivers by connecting them with vital trip and route data through an easy-to-use in-cab and app-based interface.

Some ELDs also have the feature of checking your engine’s condition and current health. This advancement in technology is helping prevent a lot of accidents that might have happened but have now been dealt with beforehand. This helps save money by learning of damages early on instead of waiting until there are major signs that there is damage.
